Torch Technologies is seeking a Materials Engineer, Principal to join the team at Hill AFB, UT. Torch Technologies is a 100% employee-owned business dedicated to providing superior research, development, and engineering services to the Department of Defense. As defense contractors, the services we provide directly support the warfighter. As a Materials Engineer, Principal your duties will include the following, but are not limited to: · Advise and assist in the design, development, qualification and testing, mechanical design, manufacturing, energetic fills, penetration modeling (e.g. Penetration Curve or PENCURV), test & evaluation, technical data package configuration management, warhead performance (fragmentation and penetration), aircraft integration, fatigue & stress analysis, insensitive munitions, and composites of warheads (penetrator, general purpose, kinetic etc.) IAW MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-2105C. · Support effort related to work with metals, ceramics, plastics, coatings, fluids, or other substances to create new materials or identify new uses for materials which meet agency requirements. · Provide support in the field of materials engineering to determine and advise on a material’s essential composition, atomic and molecular configuration. · Provide processing advice on the best materials or combinations of materials for use in systems. · Improve or develop fabrication or processing techniques for manufacturing materials. · Perform tasks in support of various stages of the life cycle of items, which may include testing and evaluating materials, corrosion control, failure analysis, developing or revising inspection techniques, specification standards, or maintenance processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Master’s degree with individual research development plus 25 years related experience
  • OR PhD with individual research development plus 25 years related experience
  • Recognized at national level in a relevant technical field, specialized engineering, or technology area.
  • Published in the area of expertise and have taught formally in the area (conference/symposium)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.
  • In addition to the requirements in 3.5, the Contractor shall advise and assist in the design, development, qualification and testing, mechanical design, manufacturing, energetic fills, penetration modeling (e.g. Penetration Curve or PENCURV), test & evaluation, technical data package configuration management, warhead performance (fragmentation and penetration), aircraft integration, fatigue & stress analysis, insensitive munitions, and composites of warheads (penetrator, general purpose, kinetic etc.) IAW MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-2105C.
