As a Materials and Processes Engineer, you will: • Lead small-group project teams to propose, select, qualify, and test metals and composites for hyper-sonic projectiles and atmospheric re-entry vehicle applications • Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments • Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions • Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports • Engage regularly with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to meet program objectives • Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement Typically looking for 2 to 4 years of professional experience We're looking for: • A self-starter who develops solutions to technical issues • A motivated individual who's able to work closely within a geographically diverse team to resolve technical issues • Someone with the ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects and timeline pressure to meet deadlines • Someone comfortable with communicating in a variety of forums • Someone willing to mentor and guide junior engineers • The ability to work with management and program representatives at several levels • Technical leadership of small teams or projects • Proven ability to communicate key project information or recommendations to Program management and /or Customers

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Materials Engineering or related background or field of study
  • Formal coursework, training, experience and/or knowledge in the design, analysis, and/or construction of mechanical parts or materials
  • Good writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance. US Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of engineering drawings, bill of materials, alloys and heat treatment, polymeric materials and corrosion control methods
  • Familiarity with technical requirements and engineering standards used in aerospace (specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, computers and network systems.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task, with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Energetic, detail oriented and enjoy working in dynamic development environment with shifting priorities
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher
