The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to: Propose material solutions and navigate material challenges for Hoka performance footwear throughout product creation cycle including but not limited to: prototyping, product briefing, design reviews and key development sample gates. Partner with material design to develop materials that align with key seasonal material strategies aimed at elevated athletic performance and sustainability. Partner with product development teams to ensure materials meet testing requirements, cost, aesthetics, sustainability metrics and performance functionality. Execute and manage material development deadlines to support seasonal product calendars. Communicate timelines, leadtimes and expectations to product teams to ensure materials are tested and commercialized on time. Create and update preliminary material data into product lifecycle management systems (PLM) to allow on time CAD handoffs. Explore new material technologies and R&D in partnership with HOKA supply chain. Partner with sourcing and procurement team to ensure visibility to concerns or issues that may arise during product creation cycle. Position offered by Deckers America, LLC. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Textile Science, Textile Development, Textile Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field of study
  • 2 years of experience in apparel/footwear product creation or 2 years of experience in material development, engineering or science.
  • 2 years of experience with footwear or apparel materials types to include any combination of knits, wovens, leather, non-wovens, and synthetics as well as physical material test standards
  • 2 years of experience working directly with global supply chain partners to include material vendors
  • 1 year of experience working with a design and development team
  • working with internal product teams, including innovation, sourcing, and manufacturing
  • apparel or footwear product creation process and material manufacturing
  • Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator
  • handling multiple simultaneous priorities while maintaining deadlines
  • interpreting design intent and conceptual briefing to provide material recommendations
  • insights and trends for footwear industry or comparable industries.
