We invite you to join team TravisMathew. The Junior Materials Developer will assist in fabric and trim development for Travis Mathew Women’s line. This position will work closely with the Design, The Junior Materials Developer will assist in fabric and trim development for Travis Mathew Women’s line. This position will work closely with the Design, Development and Material Sourcing teams to understand, interpret and execute all seasonal material developments that meet all aesthetic requirements and are in line with sourcing strategy and cost targets.

  • Working knowledge of fabric construction standards and manufacturing process.
  • Ability to utilize technical expertise to communicate expectations for developments.
  • Ability to make oral and written presentations; ability and confidence to present opinions and thoughts in a clear, unbiased manner.
  • Ability to manage change and shift priorities based on evolving business requirements and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills; especially when it comes to working directly with senior level directors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a globally diverse vendor base.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or technical trade school and/or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in material sourcing and development.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Design, Merch, Development & Sourcing teams to develop in season fabrics for Women’s line.
  • Actively participate in the fabric selection process.
  • Responsible for 1-2 Inline Pillars seasonal fabric developments into bulk ready fabrics that meet Travis Mathew fabric quality standards and adhere to the timelines, sourcing strategy and costing targets.
  • Identify potential issues in manufacturing and make recommendations to mitigate risk.
  • Track fabric, lab dip and print submissions, developments, pricing and approvals in PLM system.
  • Order and track yardage commitments on greige rolls & proto rolls in PLM system.
  • Maintain all development files, reports for documentation, follow-up, tracking and seasonal recaps.
  • Prepare and present development trials with key stakeholders to assist with fabric / trim adoption efforts
  • Communicate sourcing requirements to vendors and mills
  • Review and follow-up to ensure that all test results pass
  • Responsible for development of 1-2 Inline Pillars seasonal trim items including Buttons, Labels, Zippers, Metal hardware and other trim as needed.
  • Maintain the trim Centric library to ensure all critical process information is maintained (i.e., material specs, lead time, pricing)
  • Files and maintains organizations of lab dips, strike offs and trim developments of season.
  • Meet key deadlines for all developments, adhering to the seasonal Design and Development calendar and ensure approvals, documentation and clear communications to all vendor partners to meet sampling deadlines.
  • Understand each new fabric and it’s limitations and capabilities in order to guide design team for future season development and usage
  • Show consistent progress season over season in development initiatives and become the company expert in specific material categories.
  • Be the TravisMathew “expert” to vendor and mill partners in relation to fabric development for M&D and create valuable relationships with partners.
  • Attend scheduled team and milestone meetings as needed.
