About The Position

The Material Technician will be responsible for facilitating the movement and inventory control of the material flow, achieving efficient and safe material handling of raw materials while illustrating positive contributions to their environment. This proposal outlines the need for a dedicated backroom specialist to support the growing demands of our inventory, shipping, and storage operations. As our business expands, the need for efficient backroom management is critical to maintaining operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required with advanced technical certificate or formal education preferred.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and high level of comfort operating machinery/equipment.
  • Capable of working independently, self-sufficiently, and productively with little supervision.
  • Familiarity with RF handheld computers.
  • Exhibit excellent decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with basic computer functions and Microsoft office applications.
  • Demonstrates capability in basic math and measurement.
  • Ability to follow guidelines independently and work as part of a cohesive production team.
  • Must be able to read and write in English to accurately identify packing information, follow work instructions, and QA alerts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with material handling equipment preferred
  • Forklift operation experience preferred.
  • Experience using Apple iPad devices and applications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the resin delivery system including vacuums, blenders, grinders and bulk storage to machines efficiently.
  • Execute daily PM activities to assure seamless function of the equipment.
  • Must receive, organize and maintain accurate records of resin, cold melt and regrind inventory. Utilize sample probe to sample incoming materials received from New Berlin to prevent cross contamination.
  • Support operations with changeover duties related to back-room areas such as color changes, drain gravity bins, change fines, clean out hoppers, and blender platforms.
  • Coordinate with shift supervisor for timely stock replenishment and removal of resin material during changeovers.
  • Follow shredding process, performing color changes, operating and maintaining shredder machines.
  • Conduct daily audits of backrooms and top mezzanine to maintain 6S cleanliness.
  • Elevate intricate machine issues related to shredder, hoppers, railcars, and vacuum pumps to maintenance team in a detailed and professional manner.
  • Communicate operation specific information related to resin inventory, dunnage, scrap, 6S, and process deviations in the RedZone system.
  • Conduct quality verification checks to monitor consistent resin material flow by changing railcar compartments to ensure the molding equipment is consistently replenished with accurate resin material.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts to load, unload, and label resin material.
  • Maintain railcar area year round.
  • Engage in cross-shift equipment and operations information communication hand-offs amongst peers to ensure process consistency and shared knowledge.
  • Follow all safety procedures and policies to maintain clean equipment and work areas in our active, fast-paced, team environment
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement efforts throughout the plant. Sustain 6S program, perform general housekeeping duties, supporting team members and reporting repeat variation to leadership.
  • Support production floor needs as required.
  • Compliance to GMP, Food Safety, and Food Quality regulations as required by the company, customers, and/or government agencies.
