Coastal Waste & Recycling is seeking a Material Recovery Facility Manager to join our team in Pompano Beach! Your Role: The Material Recovery Facility Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of a Single Stream Materials Recovery Facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant processing of recyclable materials. This role oversees daily operations, managing staff, equipment, and processes to efficiently sort mixed recyclables (plastic, metal, glass, paper and class) into clean commodity streams, focusing on productivity, safety, and regulatory compliance. This role is responsible for plant performance, employee leadership, and operational execution while driving productivity, quality, and cost control.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, or similar area of study or a combination of engineering work experience in a MRF facility
5+ years of experience in recycling, waste management, manufacturing, or industrial operations
3+ years of leadership experience managing supervisors or frontline teams
Experience working in a Single Stream MRF or similar high-volume processing facility
Strong knowledge of safety regulations and operational best practices
Ability to analyze performance data and drive operational improvements
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems

Responsibilities

Lead daily MRF operations ensuring smooth daily flow, maximizing throughput and minimizing downtime
Manage and develop supervisors and hourly staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
Monitor key performance metrics such as throughput, recovery rates, residue, downtime, and safety performance.
Champion safety compliance and ensure adherence to OSHA, environmental, and company standards.
Partner with maintenance teams to support preventative maintenance, equipment uptime, and repairs.
Control labor, overtime, and operating expenses to meet site budget goals.
Identify operational issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Coordinate with hauling, sales, and corporate teams to meet service and quality expectations.
