Within Leidos’ Defense Sector , the Test Instrumentation & Lethal Mechanisms (TI&LM) Portfolio is seeking a nimble Project Manager to support multiple contracts in its Fuzing Solutions branch. This project manager will support a major defense contracting customer, whose end customers include the United States Air Force and United States Navy. This full-time position is based on site at a Leidos facility in Huntsville, AL. The TI&LM portfolio specializes in the development and production of flight data acquisition, telemetry, and electronic fuzing products for DoD and Aerospace customers. The Fuzing Solutions branch is rapidly growing and provides design, development, fabrication and testing of Electronic Safe & Arm Fuze (ESAF) and Proximity Sensors for various customers.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen; ability and willingness to obtain a DoD Secret in the future as needed.
  • Proactive, self-starter with a willingness to learn
  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Typically requires a BA degree and 2 – 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience; a dditional education, experience or training will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite in Huntsville Alabama

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS)
  • Defense Industry experience
  • Working knowledge of electromechanical assemblies and/or electronics manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the material lead for assigned programs, ensuring all material requirements support program schedules and delivery commitments.
  • Develop and manage integrated material plans aligned with program milestones and production schedules.
  • Monitor material status and provide regular reporting on supply chain risks, shortages, and recovery plans.
  • Manage supplier performance related to schedule, quality, and cost.
  • Lead cross-functional reviews to resolve supply chain issues affecting program performance.
  • Support program cost targets through effective material planning and supplier management.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities through strategic sourcing, inventory optimization, and supplier negotiations.
  • Provide material cost inputs for program proposals, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Identify material supply risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Lead material risk reviews with program leadership and operations teams.
  • Coordinate contingency planning for long-lead components and critical materials.
  • Work closely with Program Managers, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to align material availability with program execution.
  • Provide regular material status updates including shortages, delivery risks, and mitigation actions.
  • Support program reviews and customer meetings as the material supply chain lead.
  • Coordinate with procurement, planning, and suppliers to ensure timely acquisition of materials.
