Job Responsibilities: SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY The Material Planner coordinates and manages the supply of materials necessary for production, working closely with suppliers, transportation carriers, production teams, and inventory management to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement and delivery. The role involves maintaining optimal inventory levels and minimizing shortages or excess stock.

Requirements

Strong understanding of production inventory control techniques and principles.
Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and material planning processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
Results-oriented with a strong ability to follow through.
Computer literate, including proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel/Project.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in automotive manufacturing or similar production environments.
Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, MPS, Mafact, and 5S methodologies.
Strong analytical and forecasting skills.
Experience with supplier negotiations and cost-reduction initiatives.

Responsibilities

Utilize Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems to determine material requirements based on production schedules and forecasts.
Monitor and manage inventory levels, performing inventory audits and cycle counts as required.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers; issue purchase orders and follow up to ensure timely delivery.
Support production teams by aligning material availability with schedule requirements and adjusting plans as needed.
Analyze demand, usage, lead times, and inventory trends to identify improvement opportunities.
Optimize material costs through effective negotiation and inventory management strategies.
Maintain accurate documentation related to orders, shipments, and inventory.
Participate and Support in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning systems and processes.
Communicate to all levels of the organization regarding safety, morale, efficiency, and discipline.
Attend all monthly employee meetings.
Attend all scheduled training sessions, and complete related course materials.
Respond to employee issues within 48 hours.
Support 5S expectations.
Suggest systems, processes, and activities that increase productivity by improving integration of people, materials, and equipment.
Assist in monthly workplace inspections.
Communicate and Adhere enforce all company safety policies, practices and rules, and readily correct unsafe conditions or behaviors of which you become aware.
Be respectful and courteous to my co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
Follow all divisional policies and procedures.
