About The Position

In close partnership with the Supply Planning Manager, the primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the necessary ingredients, packaging, and buy/sell materials are available in-house to meet the production schedule and meet our customers' fill rate expectations. The individual in this role is accountable for achieving material planning KPIs, including targeted inventory levels, minimal obsolescence costs, and reduced expedited freight costs. Strong collaboration with scheduling, warehousing, inventory control, and production is critical to success. The position is hybrid with expectations to work on-site at the Louisville Manufacturing Facility 3 days per week. Candidates must reside in Louisville, KY, or the surrounding areas for consideration. Relocation assistance is not available for this role.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • A bachelor’s or advanced degree is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of material planning or purchasing experience
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and/or the ability to learn new systems
  • Ability to multitask in high-pressure situations and maintain a positive and caring attitude
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Blue Yonder is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create purchase orders for plant raw material, packaging, and buy/sell purchases utilizing existing approved vendors and Dawn Buying Programs to ensure the timely receipt of quality goods and materials.
  • Maintain targeted inventory levels in adherence with best-in-class practices at Dawn.
  • Work to resolve availability issues with a sense of urgency and escalate to Supply Planning Manager & Procurement (supplier issues) when or if there are production scheduling implications or customer shortages.
  • Continuously look for improvement opportunities within one’s responsibilities and those that impact the supply chain results.
  • If necessary, will perform required expediting functions to meet customer and production scheduling requirements, but the main objective will be to avoid added costs.
  • Works closely with scheduling and inventory control to make sure ingredient inventory is available to meet the production plan and line stoppages are avoided.
  • Interfaces with Accounts Payable and Purchasing Departments to resolve P.O. pricing and/or quantity issues and encourage prompt vendor payments.
  • Demonstrates the “Dawn Values” of Team Dawn and supports the Dawn Circle of Excellence.
  • Additional tasks or objectives as assigned.
