About The Position

The Material Manager oversees all activities related to material planning, inventory control and warehousing, to ensure uninterrupted production in a fast‑paced industrial manufacturing environment. This role ensures the right materials are available at the right time, in the right quantity, and at the right cost while driving efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement across the supply chain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in material management, inventory control, or supply chain within industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, inventory methodologies, and production workflows.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams in a fast‑paced setting.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • APICS/CPIM or CSCP certification.
  • Familiarity with ISO, OSHA, or other industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Material Planning & Inventory Management
  • Develop and execute material planning strategies aligned with production schedules and customer demand.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock.
  • Monitor material usage, scrap, and variances; implement corrective actions to improve accuracy.
  • Oversee cycle counts, physical inventories, and root‑cause analysis for discrepancies.
  • Use MRP/ERP systems to forecast, plan, and track material requirements.
  • Procurement & Supplier Coordination
  • Collaborate with purchasing to ensure timely and cost‑effective procurement of raw materials, components, and consumables.
  • Partner with supply chain to evaluate supplier performance across quality, delivery, and cost while proactively resolving supply issues, expediting orders, and negotiating delivery schedules to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Warehouse Oversight
  • Ensure proper labeling, organization, and traceability of materials.
  • Optimize warehouse layout, material flow, and handling processes to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to support operational goals.
  • Participate in new product introductions by planning material readiness and phase‑in/phase‑out strategies.
  • Communicate material risks, shortages, and recovery plans to leadership.
  • Leadership & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead, train, and develop material handlers, planners, and warehouse staff.
  • Implement Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline material flow.
  • Establish KPIs such as inventory turns, on‑time delivery, and accuracy; drive performance to meet targets.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
