About The Position

Bush Hog, RhinoAg, and Dixie Chopper are among the most recognized and successful brands in the Agricultural and Outdoor Power Equipment industries.  The Material Management Manager is a critical leadership role within the company and is responsible for supporting organizational goals related to profitability, return on investment, inventory turnover, and workplace safety.  This role oversees all aspects of parts and materials management across Receiving, Manufacturing, and Shipping operations. Responsibilities include reviewing production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping documents, and requisitions to determine the timely movement, staging, and distribution of materials. The Material Management Manager establishes daily departmental priorities and provides direction by assigning and supervising work for materials management staff, ensuring efficient operations and alignment with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience in all areas of purchasing and materials (inventory) management is required
  • Expertise in inventory optimization, demand forecasting, and lean/six-sigma methodologies
  • Understanding of Demand Flow Management, Kanban, EDI, EFT, RFI, and bar coding are essential
  • Excellent leadership skills, organizational skills and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to set and meet deadlines
  • Must be physically capable of standing/working 8+ hour shift(s)
  • Must be able to workdays, nights, overtime and/or weekends as needed. May be required to travel
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience required. APICS certification required
  • 5-7 years of experience in managing supply chain activities

  • Prefer a Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M. or C.P.I.M.), Accredited Purchasing Professional (A.P.P.) and member of National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement materials management strategies, policies, and processes to optimize inventory levels, reduce waste, streamline operations, and align with overall business objectives
  • Manage the materials lifecycle—from forecasting and demand planning to inventory optimization and warehouse operations—to ensure availability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiate terms, address quality issues, and drive continuous performance improvements
  • Lead, coach, and mentor materials management teams—including procurement specialists, warehouse staff, and logistics coordinators—fostering collaboration and operational excellence
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, financial forecasts, and cost-reduction initiatives, while monitoring metrics like inventory turnover, carrying cost, and service levels
  • Responsible for coordinating purchasing, inventory management, production scheduling, shipping and trucking departments
  • Responsible for Materials Management and Control
