About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for performing essential material control and warehouse functions to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality operation. This role supports production, maintains compliance standards, and contributes to a positive and safety-focused work environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to work cooperatively with team members.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to read and understand standard English (e.g., pack lists and documentation).
  • Effective communication skills across diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to adapt to changing workloads and priorities.
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Sound judgment and decision-making aligned with company policies.
  • Ability to use radio or paging systems to communicate across departments.
  • Ability to recognize emergencies and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 7 hours during an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. without assistance.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift in high-traffic, low-clearance areas.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs safely.
  • Hearing ability sufficient to recognize alarms, horns, and verbal warnings.
  • Must not be at risk of sudden loss of consciousness.

  • Proficiency in JDE (preferred/required as applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment for yourself, co-workers, and the facility.
  • Identify and report safety concerns, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Actively participate in safety and quality programs.
  • Follow all ISO, GMP, Food Safety requirements, and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas at all times.
  • Report damages and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Ensure quality standards are met in all processes and materials handled.
  • Identify and report quality concerns to supervisors or quality technicians.
  • Understand and support all customer requirements.
  • Promote zero waste, zero litter, and active participation in recycling initiatives.
  • Assist with breaking down empty gaylords and maintaining the baler.
  • Support silo maintenance and cleaning as needed.
  • Assist fellow Material Handlers as directed by the Warehouse Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Operate within defined job authority guidelines.
