Position Summary: To effectively perform all of the required duties of the Packaging Material Handler position in an accurate, thorough and safe manner as outlined per the Carl Buddig and Company job description. Employees are responsible for producing a safe and quality food product per USDA guidelines and are required to report all food safety related problems to their supervisor, manager, or to the quality assurance department in order to initiate immediate action.

Requirements

  • Experience: Ability to legally work in the United States is required. High School Diploma/GED preferred. 2+ years related work experience is preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Must have forklift experience.
  • Must be able to stand for 8-9 hours per day.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and squat as needed for housekeeping responsibilities and other miscellaneous duties.
  • Must be able to lift up to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to work 40 or more hours per week.
  • Must be able to work mandatory overtime if necessary.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination.
  • Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Must pass the Carl Buddig and Company Forklift Training and Evaluation on an annual basis.

Responsibilities

  • Wet Side Material Handler:
  • Using hand-held scanner, locate correct product- using oldest product first, and then scan the basket ticket to the appropriate line
  • Reweigh meat baskets and place back into cooler as needed.
  • Complete necessary audit on all rework vats.
  • Wrap and properly secure rework vats once auditing process is complete.
  • Ensure correct rotation of baskets throughout day to reduce packaging line down time and increase overall production.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by watching out for foot traffic: following standards and procedures: complying with legal regulations per all forklift operations.
  • Accomplish warehousing and organizational mission by completed related results as needed.
  • Complete necessary forklift maintenance and associated reports to ensure maximum forklift performance and overall plant safety.
  • Dry Side Material Handler:
  • Deliver supply of boxes and empty pallets to packaging area as needed.
  • Remove full pallets from packaging lines when completed.
  • Using hand-held scanner, scan the case label and then follow the prompts to enter correct pallet count and produce pallet license plate. Affix plate and move finished pallet to the wrapper.
  • Place license plate on pallet once scanning process is complete.
  • Deliver pallets to shipping area with the use of forklift.
  • Remove excess inventory of boxes and pallets as needed.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by watching out for foot traffic: following standards and procedures: complying with legal regulations per all forklift operations.
  • Accomplish warehousing and organizational mission by completed related results as needed.
  • Complete necessary forklift maintenance and associated reports to ensure maximum forklift performance and overall plant safety.
