SUMMARY The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient and accurate movement, storage, and tracking of materials throughout the facility. This individual will ensure that materials are properly received, stored, and delivered to the appropriate departments or locations in a timely and safe manner while utilizing the organization’s ERP system to accurately manage inventory.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Solid work history
  • Material handling experience
  • Previous experience in operating and maintaining industrial powered equipment IE: Forklift, Scissors lift, Pallet jacks.
  • Must pass internal Industrial powered equipment certification in the first 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to work overtime when production demand requires it.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedule, inventory reports, packing lists and check-in incoming material and sign for same.
  • Must demonstrate a good attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to exhibit good judgment related to safety, quality, cost and delivery of parts, processes and product.
  • Basic math, computer and keyboarding skills to work within the ERP system.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
  • Employee will occasionally lift average of 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Shop floor working environment
  • Required to wear safety glasses and utilize other safety equipment as required while present on the production floor
  • Noise level is minimal with intervals of spikes.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver materials to production lines or workstations as needed.
  • Maintain in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials, parts and supplies as listed on production orders/pick sheets.
  • Monitor and replenish Kanban inventory levels.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy for all parts in assigned work area, including cycle counting, backflushing and timely material transactions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse – including (but not limited to) consolidating loads and skids, properly labeling product and racks and organizing shelves.
  • Follow safety procedures for the proper operation of fork truck, hand truck and/or carts regarding pedestrian traffic, factory property and material being transported or handled, etc.
  • Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders; ensure product is properly labeled and put away.
  • Perform necessary transactions in ERP system to maintain accurate quantity-by-location inventory control.
  • Perform safety and maintenance checklists on equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
