About The Position

A material handler performs various receiving, stocking, picking and checking duties including maintenance of accurate inventory, following established safety rules, policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand written and verbal instruction
  • High School or equivalent
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 65 lbs daily
  • Average lifting time of 4 hours a day

Responsibilities

  • Unload truck deliveries manually and with fork lift. Scan or manually receive goods into computer system, stock all materials and/or goods in appropriate areas, aisles and bays for future picking.
  • Receive allocation/Kanban orders, pick all materials needed to fill orders.
  • Pack partial allocations in plastic bags, seal and mark contents on the allocation.
  • Notify supervisor of materials that are back-ordered, by indicating the amount on backorder by writing the quantity picked and “B/O” on fill ticket
  • Move all allocated materials from the stock aisles to the truck for shipping or staging allocation in dedicated bays until requested by kitting. Operate forklift and electric pallet jacks when shipping heavy materials and or as needed.
  • Use of electric pallet jacks, forklifts or hand jacks to prevent damage of materials when unloading and loading trucks
  • Submit completed allocation/Kanban orders to data entry.
  • Cross train in both areas Consolidation and Kitting.
  • Maintain forklift/Electric jacks. Ensuring they are in good mechanical condition; check fluid levels regularly, complete daily checklist to ensure jacks are in proper working condition before use.
  • Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to manager. Assist with periodic cycle counts and inventory.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed.
  • Basic computer skills, able to learn how to use Aurora, DHL shipping system, UPS shipping system, and USPS.
