About The Position

The Warehouse Material Handler will ship, receive, and deliver supplies, materials and equipment and maintain inventory control and records; perform related work. Must possess ability to also verify and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must have forklift experience for at least 3 years
  • Requires a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to bend, stoop, lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand and walk continuously throughout and 8 hour shift
  • Experience: handling, storing, and shipping materials or supplies; operating material handling equipment; accessing information on a computer; reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness, experience with an RF Scanner
  • Required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms to handle material
  • Willingness to be cross trained and learn all aspects of Bennett’s warehouse procedures and processes
  • Must be safety conscience at all times and exercise great care regarding the equipment, materials and the safety of others and oneself.
  • Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language
  • Ability to perform basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
  • Have basic computer skills such as the ability to enter numeric data.

Responsibilities

  • Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, or containers, by hand or using a truck or tow motor
  • Read work orders, packing lists, or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
  • Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information including the quantity packed and part number
  • Maintain inventory storage and packing areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
  • Pack product in containers and re-pack product from damaged containers.
  • Carry out general yard duties
  • Assemble product containers or boxes using hand tools
  • Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
  • Affixes shipping label on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using accounting receipts
  • Routes items to departments.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Operates any equipment needed to perform job.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by supervision.
