About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for setting up production equipment and supplies, operating equipment safely and effectively for production processing, and performing various warehouse responsibilities. This role involves inspecting equipment for replacements, malfunctions, and repairs, and adhering to safety procedures and company policies. The Material Handler is expected to recommend process improvements, accurately load materials, monitor machine processes, complete production paperwork, utilize a barcoding system, and follow shipping order instructions. The position requires the ability to operate an air compressed bander and read packaging instructions on work orders. Cross-training and contributing to company goals are also essential aspects of this role.

Requirements

Forklift experience/ Certification.
Ability to operate an air compressed bander.
Ability to read packaging instructions on work orders.
High School degree or equivalent.
Ability to use and understand simple mathematics, using addition, subtraction, fractions and decimals.
Knowledge of the Standard/Imperial measuring system is required.
Understanding and use of basic measuring instruments required; micrometers, digital calipers, tape measure is required.
Work from written specifications and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills.
Maintains a good attendance record.
Generally willing to work overtime.
Ability to work effectively with other employees.
Must have good communication skills.
Be open to learn about lean manufacturing.
Strong organizational skills.
A positive attitude.
The capacity and desire to learn.
The ability to pass both a pre-employment background and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience or training in a related field or manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge of the metric system is a plus.

Responsibilities

Setup the production equipment and supplies before executing the job orders.
Operate equipment safely and effectively for production processing.
Perform warehouse responsibilities.
Inspect equipment to identify any replacements, malfunctions, and repairs.
Follow safety procedures and company policies for equipment operation.
Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
Accurately loads material and meticulously monitors machine’s process and finished product.
Properly completes production paperwork and utilizes a barcoding system.
Reviews and follows shipping order instructions and specifications.
Expected to be able to handle tasks/cross-train to help the company meet its goals.
