Summary : The Material Handler-2 is responsible for safely handling and staging material for production at the entry end of the paint line. The Material Handler-2 is responsible with working with overhead cranes, working in the raw coil storage area, and all auxiliary equipment. Reporting Line: The source of supervision for the Material Handler - Entry is the Production Leader issues instructions to the PL Crew Chief who issues instructions to the Material Handler - Entry

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and simple correspondence.
  • Also, the ability to communicate information ( in small group situations ) to other employees.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, percentages, area, circumference, volume and densities.
  • Also, the ability to apply the concepts of statistics and probability to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform work instructions that are furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Also, the ability to solve problems, which involve multiple variables in a standard situation.
  • Incumbent is required to drive a forklift, operate an overhead crane and use various power tools.
  • The incumbent should also be capable of recognizing metal defects.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance.
  • Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working from schedules and special instructions.
  • Responsible for safely operating an overhead crane for the pulling and staging of coils at the Entry End staging area.
  • Responsible for pulling and staging materials per schedules by using oldest material first. (FIFO)
  • Responsible for locating and relocating all coils that require moving for safe coil storage and processing.
  • Responsible for assisting Entry End Operator in the unwrapping of material for processing.
  • Responsible for assisting in restacking and staging coil areas.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all coils have stock numbers on both sides before storing coils.
  • Responsible for removing all trash and scrap metal to the proper containers.
  • Responsible for ensuring ample material is staged for the oncoming shift.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Responsible for maintaining storage area per current storage specifications.
  • Responsible for scanning raw pile storage area on a weekly basis.
  • Responsible for participating in inventories of raw storage area.
  • Responsible for assisting in coater clean ups, set ups and coater roll changes when necessary.
  • Responsible for keeping work area in a clean an orderly condition.
  • Responsible for performing various other duties as required or as assigned.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management System in place at BCP.
  • Communicates daily with internal personnel from Production and Quality Control in order to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals.
  • If (in the event of an abnormal occurrence) an employee feels uncomfortable, unsure or unable to safely correct an issue, that employee must contact a member of plant leadership for assistance prior to attempting to correct the issue.
