Material Handler - Afternoons

About The Position

Summary of Job Responsibilities   Area of Accountability: Works as a member of the Materials department to assist in the operation of material handling.   Major Responsibilities: 1. Loads and unloads trucks with either incoming or outgoing materials. Inventories/counts and moves raw and finished materials from the production floor or storage areas to their intended destination. 2. Operates the company truck to move materials to or from plant. 3. Unloads steel trucks as they arrive and moves steel to storage areas. 4. Operates sit-down lift and high-reach lift trucks as necessary to store or deliver materials. 5. Accurately reports daily activities as required. 6. Material flow, presentation and replenishment experience preferred. 7. Knowledge of inventory control processes such as cycle counting and scrap reporting are preferred. 8. Inventories, prepares and packages aftermarket materials for shipment. 9. Proficient in using handheld scanner and/or pc to perform inventory transactions. 10. Coordinates UPS shipments and receipts. 11. Keeps work areas clean and free of hazards. 12. Exercises safe work habits 13. Maintain a clean safety record for operating all material handling equipment. 14. Performs other duties as assigned by the Area Leader or Supervisor. Qualifications: Must be able to read and write legibly Must be able to become forklift certified Ability to work overtime, as production demands require Ability to function as an effective team member Ability to follow operation procedures and assess problems and recommend solutions to resolve problems Must be able to meet production standards and follow instructions Must be able to physically lift 40 lbs.
