About The Position

The Material Handlers primary responsibility is the control and proper distribution of raw material on the production floor. Material Handlers are also responsible for secondary materials processing, (coloring, drying, grinding, etc.) and ensuring a sufficient supply of raw materials is maintained at producing work centers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a production environment, preferably in plastic molding, in roles such as operator, material handler, utility personnel, setup assistant, warehouse staff, or shipping and receiving clerk.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Certification in forklift operation.
  • Familiarity with other warehouse equipment and machinery.
  • Proficiency in basic math, data entry, and computer use.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and handling materials weighing between 50-100 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of material grades, dryer temperature settings, labeling procedures, inventory codes, reports, and production schedules.
  • Monitors current production jobs, checks material levels at each work center, reviews upcoming schedule changes, and verifies that molds and materials are pre-staged appropriately.
  • Stages materials, tooling, and supplies for future production runs.
  • Maintains accurate material logs and lot traceability across all work centers, dryers, staging areas, and warehouse locations.
  • Utilizes production schedules and reports to identify correct materials for each job, loads material dryers, and refills machine hoppers to support uninterrupted production.
  • Blends regrind and colorants to specified requirements, following job packet instructions, quality records, or supervisory direction.
  • Immediately reports any material or supply shortages, misuse, waste, contamination, certification issues, or lot control discrepancies to supervision.
  • Cleans dryers, hoppers, loaders, grinders, conveyors, auxiliary equipment, and part collection bins as needed.
  • Avoids cross-contamination of materials by properly grinding, packaging, and labeling runners and non-conforming parts for reclamation and reuse.
  • Keeps the production floor clean and safe at all times, ensuring all areas are free from spills or accumulated debris.
  • Transports materials and supplies between the warehouse, staging areas, and production floor as necessary.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and operational objectives.
