Department:  Packaging    Hours: 1st shift (7:00am - 3:30pm)  Mon - Fri Summary: The Material Handler monitors temperature charts for critical, temperature-controlled storage areas within Packaging, calculates precise incubation times for all product batches based on product type and destination market, and ensures timely movement of product and raw materials between the various locations.

Requirements

  • Able to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Continuous standing, walking, bending and lifting is required.
  • Immunization required.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED along with the experience referenced below.
  • Six months of material handling/forklift experience is also required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors room temperature charts for product incubation areas/storage rooms.
  • Reports and respond to room temperature alarms, and for expeditiously moving product to alternate locations in the event of an extended temperature excursion.
  • Uses scanner to record receipt of products into database (i.e. SAP, etc.);
  • Calculates the precise minimum and maximum incubation times for each batch based on product type and market destination ( US, EU, Canada, ICON, etc.)
  • Maintains inventory information for final container products and packaging components using batch production records and appropriate electronic system based    transactions (i.e. SAP, etc.).
  • Ensures timely movement of product and raw materials between the B100 Warehouse, Packaging and Label Control to prevent production delays on the Packaging lines.
  • Performs housekeeping tasks and maintains department housekeeping at an optimal level.
  • Monitors ambient storage times of product batches and ensures time requirements are not exceeded by pre-planning pre-pack storage removal times. These activities require the material hander to report to work on weekends for the purpose of removing product from storage in preparation for the following week’s production.
  • Operates fork trucks, pallet jacks, cage tuggers, and similar equipment and maintain appropriate certifications.
