About The Position

Packagers must retrieve all items needed for job requirements (i.e. - polybags, PB boxes or shrink-wrapping, etc). Packagers are responsible for ensuring product is clean, labeled properly and free of visible defect, before placing into cartons for shipment. Packagers are responsible for ensuring that packaged items make it safely to their destination. Packagers must securely seal each carton. Packagers must be able to use hand tools, adhesives, padding and other products to protect the items. Packagers must keep a clean work area and observe all company safety standards. Packagers are responsible for weighing and labeling cartons, as well as placing them onto pallets and staging them in designated shipping areas using a hand truck, electric dolly or cart. The packager is responsible for counting, weighing, and recording information onto a finishing sheet, and verifying that the ticket information is correct to the core/carton labels as well as to the shipping manifest. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of general warehouse layout, item identification codes, basic knowledge of warehouse procedures and familiarity with the storage areas in order to be able to place or pull paper stock, signatures and materials in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Basic math skills, and ability to read job ticket information required.
  • Ability to use a step ladder to get/return carton stock and supplies.
  • Able to move, jog, arrange, unload, count and rotate items on/off carts and pallets.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Able to complete appropriate forms.
  • Basic skill in the use of manual dollies, carts or hand trucks and hand tools used in material handling tasks.
  • Ability to recognize defects and communicate effectively with others.
