While reporting to the Department Manager, as the Lead Material Handler, you will perform tasks and provide services to support the plant’s overall business plans and objectives as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Originates, coordinates, and prepares various reports in area of responsibility under the direction of management.
  • Operates forklift during routine performance of duties.
  • Prepares documentation for incoming and outgoing materials and finished goods.
  • Maintains accurate files, records and logs of incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Coordinates and trains material handlers in duties.
  • Communicates to supervisor any unusual occurrences in the following areas: inventory balance, stock storage losses, equipment functions and operation, damaged materials, building maintenance.
  • Conducts inspection of trailers and monitors for faulty dock locks and equipment.
  • Ensures finished goods are properly documented for shipment.
  • Stages and loads finished goods in accordance with warehouse production planning schedule.
  • Conducts inspection of and routine preventative on assigned equipment.
  • Communicates to management any machine malfunctions.
  • Relieves material handlers as necessary; identifies and assists in solving traffic or materials flow problems.
  • Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the computer.
  • Able to communicate with supervisors, freight carriers, brokers and CSR’s via email.
  • Communicates pertinent information to next shift.
  • Performs clean-up, painting and housekeeping duties.
  • Complies with established job safety practices.
  • Regular attendance is required between the assigned start and end times for work.
  • Initiates, reviews, masters, and follows all standard operating procedures in area of responsibility.
  • Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the division, the group, the company, and the community.
  • Maintains the professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
