As a Material Handler III (Expeditor), you will be responsible for expediting components to support assembly, fabrication, and other support functions of the business. Components will include fabricated and purchased components. This position will be responsible for managing the Shortage, Missing Card, 5-Day Out and 24Hr Conveyor Reports for the plant daily and taking action to ensure material flow to internal customers. This position is expected to analyze the root cause of shortages, prioritize locating missing components or expedite manufacturing of metal fabricated components, and coordinate with Buyers and Planners' issues to eliminate future shortages. The Expeditor role is expected to assist with the coordination of work within the material handling teams on their respective shift as well as training and coaching of new and lower-tier material handlers. Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, this position is based in Shreveport, LA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of forklift experience
  • Be able to use RF scanner, AS400, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Be able to perform Material Handler I and II level requirements.
  • Be able to become forklift and stock picker certified.
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of location systems, i.e. Kanban, Min/Max Move Ticket, Non-Kanban, DTS.
  • Score at least 75% on the Material Handler Cycle Counter Exam.
  • Have successfully completed or be able to complete the Material Handler Training Course.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime, flexible hours, and/or overtime on short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Cycle Counters, Purchasing, Planning, Sales & Service, Shipping & Receiving, and Engineering.
  • Collaborate with Buyers and Planners to resolve supply chain issues and eliminate future shortages.
  • Coordinate workflow within the material handling team during assigned shift.
  • Provide training and coaching to new and lower-tier material handlers to support team development.
  • Daily inspection of any equipment that’s used to move material.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • Accurately perform cycle counts and required inventory management functions.
  • Working with inventory transactions and familiarity with various product types, including manufactured, phantom, and MNWO (Make No Work Order) parts.
  • Willingness to travel between all company plant locations as needed.
  • Learning and operating the Modula equipment.
  • Expedite fabricated and purchased components to support assembly, fabrication, and other operational functions.
  • Manage daily plant reports including Shortage, Missing Card, 5-Day Out, and 24-Hour Conveyor Reports to ensure timely material flow.
  • Investigate and analyze root causes of material shortages and take corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Prioritize locating missing components and expedite manufacturing of metal fabricated parts as needed.
