While there are many duties common to both positions, there are also some duties and responsibilities applicable to each function separately. Employees begin their assignment in the material handling function and are cross trained in the shipping function upon gaining experience as a Material Handler. Under the supervision of the Warehouse/Transportation Supervisor, operates forklift to move materials to the lines as needed and to move pallets of finished goods to the staging area for the Warehouse; loads and unloads trailers, pulls product, moves product with lift truck/turret truck within the warehouse and onto trucks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Duties Common to All Positions · Follows all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Performs duties in a safe manner and reports all observed safety hazards to management. Acts as a role model for Safety on shift. Participates in safety programs by reporting Unsafe Conditions, Unsafe Acts and Close Calls; enters Near Miss data and observations into Global Data Center database (GDC) · Responsible for housekeeping activities such as sweeping/moping tire marks by baler/stretch-wrap areas; picks up trash bags and empties recycle bins on production floor.; picks up and bales cardboard from production floor. · Completes crown lift or forklift safety checklist; changes battery and fills battery cells with water on crown lift; fills propane tank on forklift. · Completes packaging orders by: locating and pulling packaging in the warehouse racks and placing packaging on the designated area on the production floor. Consolidates similar packaging on the production floor as orders are placed by production personnel. Returns unused packaging to Warehouse. · Participates in employee driven teams to address a variety of operations related issues. Material Handler Duties · Completes work orders by: pulling finished goods from lines, taking it to stretch wrap, weighing pallets and scanning finished goods pallet to JDE; transfers completed work. Retrieves pallets from outside and supplies to production lines by stacking appropriate number on pallet pal and removing them as needed during the production process; removes broken pallets and replaces with new ones; places broken pallets in designated area. · Picks up, weighs, labels and bails non-conforming product from production lines; places bailed product in staging area; fills out the appropriate non-conforming product forms · Gets master-batch from racks and places it on the dumper; operates dumper to fill master[1]batch holder and takes it to appropriate location on the production floor; breaks down empty gaylord and takes to cardboard recycling area. · Safely operates and maintains baler and stretch wrap machine as needed.
