About The Position

The team will augment services provided by Air Force military personnel to modify, maintain, inspect, control corrosion, overhaul, repair, regenerate and store various weapon systems, related components, missiles, engines, ground support equipment and vehicles. DUTIES: Receive, store, select, move and ship general or specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment. Create, construct, and repair containers from wood or wood substitute materials; pack, preserve, and crate items for shipment and/or storage; and brace and block items for shipment. Plan and lay-out construction details and material requirements based on similar previously manufactured containers. In-process, store, and issue a variety of aircraft components and DoD special tooling equipment. Operate Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) which includes forklifts and warehouse tugs. The forklifts will be both diesel and electric powered with lift capacities up to and including 15,000 pounds for loading, unloading, and moving various types of cargo, aircraft engines, aircraft parts, pallet boxes etc. The warehouse tug will be diesel powered with a towing capacity of 40,000 pounds. The Contractor shall operate both forklifts and warehouse tugs over improved/unimproved surfaces as well as desert terrain. Construct or repair containers with weather tight corners and seals as required. Construct wooden parts or sections used to secure or encase items in containers such as gates, bins, bracing, and install cushioning for fragile Properly install blocking/bracing points to account for irregular or odd shaped walls, floors, sides, and overhead area. Perform, and document vehicle operator checks and ensure vehicles are maintained in a ready state of use or turn in for repairs when required. Prepare paint surfaces by removing scale, rust, dirt, and old paint to ensure coating materials will adhere properly. Perform all necessary preparatory work including covering gaps and filling surfaces/seams using spackle and other filling materials. Coat and treat surfaces using standard application techniques (spray, roller or brush) to protect boxes and tooling from extreme environmental conditions. Apply thin coatings when required to account for environmental changes while maintaining the integrity of the coatings. May be required to transport classified items. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be qualified to operate Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) which includes forklifts and warehouse tugs.
  • Must have at least 4 years of applicable experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
