About The Position

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the proper loading and shipping of all inbound and outbound orders, ensuring accuracy in quantities, and that the product meets the quality requirements. They receive and organize incoming materials and ensure work is completed on schedule. They operate picking and lifting machines safely and maintain an organized and safe work area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years' relevant shipping and receiving work experience required.
  • 1-2 years' experience operating Forklift / Industrial Equipment
  • 1-2 years' experience using the company's ERP system and/ or choice of software.
  • Must have proficient communications skills both verbal and written.
  • Must have proficient math skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must have proficient analytical skills.
  • Must have proficient problem-solving skills.
  • Must have excellent people skills and be able to work in a group.
  • Must be proactive and take initiative.
  • Must have the ability to meet the goals of productivity and efficiency.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, reach, grasp and work in adverse and awkward positions.
  • Must know how to drive heavy equipment such as Forklift, Electric Lift, and Pallet Jack.
  • Must be able to operate a Mobile Scanner Device (RF gun) for inventory tracking and control.
  • Must be an excellent team player.
  • Must be professional in their work activities.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Must be reliable, punctual and have schedule flexibility including working weekends, Holidays, and off-shifts as needed.
  • Must be able to comply with company attendance and punctuality policy.
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Must adhere to a drug and alcohol zero tolerance policy.
  • Must be able to comply with and follow all food safety, and third-party certification policies (SQF, Gluten-Free and Organic, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Always perform tasks according to Safety and Food Safety Standards.
  • Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety initiatives to promote a culture of safety.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA) and company policies and trainings related to food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations.
  • Responsible for proper loading and shipping of all inbound and outbound orders; ensuring that quantities are correct, and that the product meets the quality requirements.
  • Communicates with Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to notify discrepancies with any orders.
  • Ensures that all paperwork (orders, bill of ladings, invoices, reports etc.) is properly filled out, completed and accurate.
  • Inspects all the incoming and outgoing materials within the product specifications.
  • Properly store materials and finished product in the warehouse layout.
  • Stocks corn and flour departments with the materials needed for production.
  • Responsible for the packaging of finished product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling).
  • Responsible for the picking, staging, and loading of finished products into trucks, trailers, and containers.
  • Responsible for the incoming and outgoing raw materials shipments.
  • Responsible for actions to ensure that both raw materials and finished products meet or exceed Quality Assurance specifications.
  • Ensures the proper operation of the warehouses' equipment and tools.
  • Completes safe parking, charging and/or refueling the forklifts and electric pallet jacks daily.
  • Performs Air Brake LOTO procedures on Trucks and chucks truck tires before loading trucks.
  • Completion of warehouse forms, shipping and receiving logs and all related paperwork confirming that all the documentation contains reliable and accurate information; including the proper archiving of the paperwork as indicated.
  • Responsible for reporting RF gun (Radio Frequency Gun) and label printer issues to the IT Department.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the warehouse, storage racks, and pallet area are kept clean and organized, including coolers and freezers.
  • Responsible for removing cobwebs and chipping paint from walls and ceilings.
  • Responsible for following and complying with all SQF requirements.
  • Maintains workstations per SQF guidelines.
  • Actively demonstrates an attitude of willing service and teamwork.
  • Other duties as assigned.
