About The Position

BAE Systems, a Top 10 Prime Contractor to the Department of Defense, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Principal Material and Process Engineer to lead the development and implementation of corrosion control, paints, and coatings solutions for defense industry applications. The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of materials science, corrosion control, and coatings technology, with a focus on defense industry standards and regulations. As a Senior Principal Material and Process Engineer, you will: Provide technical vision and leadership for corrosion control, paints, and coatings development and implementation, ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategic goals. Develop and implement corrosion control solutions for defense industry applications, leveraging advanced materials science and corrosion control principles. Lead the development of new paints and coatings technologies, including design, testing, and qualification. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality, to ensure design and process requirements are met. Resolve complex technical problems, leveraging expertise in materials science, corrosion control, and coatings technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in materials science, corrosion control, and coatings technology, with a focus on defense industry applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of materials science, corrosion control, and coatings technology.
  • Experience with defense industry standards and regulations (e.g., MIL-STD, ASTM, ASME).
  • Familiarity with coatings testing and qualification methods.
  • Strong technical leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive business growth.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry-recognized corrosion control certifications, such as NACE Certified Corrosion Specialist (CCS) or SSPC Certified Coatings Inspector (CCI).
  • Experience working in the defense industry, with knowledge of defense-specific regulations and standards.
