About The Position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Cultivates, oversees, and maintains a culture of safety. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Must maintain USMS certified coach (or within 6 months of hire), American Cross Lifeguarding, Professional Rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration or similar certifications. Develop and conduct team workouts for various levels of swimmers. Works with team members on stroke development. Develop positive relationships with team members. Provides motivational support and guidance for participants. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including communication skills with participants and facility staff. Must be able to work early mornings (5:45 am weekdays). Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Background in swimming and knowledge of competitive swimming
  • Physically perform all skills required of a coach.
  • Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility.
  • Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.
  • Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.

  • Preferred experience coaching adult swimming
