About The Position

RIDGEVIEW , a not-for-profit community mental health center specializing in social work, counseling, and therapy, is seeking a Master’s Level Advanced Clinical Intern . The right candidate will be embedded in Scott County Schools during their internship and will receive the training needed to transition to regular hire as a School-Based Behavioral Health Liaison (basically, Outpatient Therapist) upon graduation . This is a year round position where you will deliver direct therapy to students and coach staff on engaging students with behavioral health needs. Requirements

  • Minimum BS from an accredited school with Master's level internships complete.
  • Must be in final semester of course work for a Master of Science or PhD in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide face-to-face consultation with classroom teachers to assist them in creating positive, trauma-informed classroom environments
  • Enhance the learning environment for children at risk of developing an emotional/behavioral problem or substance use disorder, or with serious emotional disturbance (SED)
  • Provide training and education regarding childhood mental health and trauma-informed behavior responses in the classroom
  • Provide psycho-educational groups and other support as needed to youth identified by teachers and/or or other school officials
  • Provide Liaison support between the family and the school
  • Assist parents and youth with the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process and with trauma-informed support plans
  • Complete all activities under the direction of a School Based Behavioral Health Liaison
  • Facilitate the awareness, growth, and psychological development of the client
  • Build rapport with the client through empathic listening, caring, and warmth
  • Be authentic, genuine, and transparent
  • Play a significant role of resolving serious issues and conflicts within the family
  • Encourage and motivate individuals to tackle their mental health and behavioral problems effectively
  • Provide a safe environment and establish a warm, comfortable therapeutic culture
  • Work toward licensure as LCSW, LPC-MHSP, or LMFT if not already licensed
