We are seeking seasoned shop and field technicians/mechanics with experience in similar heavy equipment dealerships to join our third-generation, family-owned organization. Own and maintain required personal tools. Strongly Preferred: At least seven years heavy equipment technician experience, preferably in a dealership environment. Caterpillar work experience. Proficient rebuilding/repairing machinery including hydraulics, electrical, powertrain, engines, Tier IV Emissions systems, failure analysis procedures, and warranty claims procedures. If offered employment, the specific rate of pay and position grade will be determined based on applicable differentials and the candidate’s level of experience and skill. JOB DETAILS: Shift 1st & 2nd Shift Location In-Field Schedule Work schedule to be provided by leader Salary Range $ 39.50 - $67.18 Per Hour JOB SUMMARY: Provide failure analysis and technical information support to the service department. Research and solve technical problems for Caterpillar and allied product line. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Empire technical problem-solving personnel. Train technicians on troubleshooting techniques.

Requirements

  • At least six months of related experience in a similar role and environment.

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Own and maintain required personal tools.
  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Minimum 5 years serviceperson experience.
  • Must comprehend computer-based programs (SIS, SIMS etc.)
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.

Nice To Haves

  • At least seven years heavy equipment technician experience, preferably in a dealership environment.
  • Caterpillar work experience.
  • Proficient rebuilding/repairing machinery including hydraulics, electrical, powertrain, engines, Tier IV Emissions systems, failure analysis procedures, and warranty claims procedures.
  • Degree or working knowledge in Mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze and correct product problems.
  • Make decisions on the actions to take to solve product problems.
  • Participate in factory engineer field visits.
  • Inspect failed parts and consult as needed with the Technical Resources department.
  • Create troubleshooting aids for specific products or systems.
  • Resolve technical and repetitive problems.
  • Counsel others on interpretation of CAT parts reusability guidelines.
  • Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.
  • Assist others in using CAT failure analysis training.
  • Perform scrap barrel analysis as needed.
  • Assist with the design of in-the-field customer attachments.
  • Minimize product liability by correct design and installation of customer attachments.
  • Maintain mast technical files and technical information bulletins. Acquire blueprints as needed.
  • Provide feedback internally to drive change sufficient to meet market demands.
  • Provide valuable customer service solutions.
  • Work within and promote corporate values.
