About The Position

Shaw Industries is looking for a Master Electrician who will play an important role in the manufacture of a variety of flooring solutions for our residential and commercial customers. Position Objective: To ensure that the plants electronic equipment functions properly and to install new systems when necessary.

Requirements

  • Technical School Diploma or Associates Degree in a related field.
  • Must be able to perform basic math.
  • A minimum of 5 years field experience preferred or have successfully completed START Technician-Electrician Master training program.
  • Must be able to pass certification for driving powered industrial trucks (including forks, squeeze, pole, articulating lifts, scissors lifts, etc.).
  • Must complete and follow all applicable Shaw SAFE training requirements.
  • Must attend all training/development classes as required by facility management.
  • Training on how to use Ariba procurement system to order parts and supplies related to job needs.
  • Training on how to use EZ Entry/TPM system to set up and receive work instructions.
  • Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry loads of up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, grasp and reach frequently.
  • Must be able to work with hands/arms extended overhead.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders repeatedly.
  • Must be able to work in temperatures in excess of 100 degrees for limited periods of time.
  • Must be able to operate hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to use/operate hand and power tools in areas of limited space.
  • Must be able to work in elevated environment (ladders, lifts, baskets, etc.) for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in industrial environment with elevated noise levels, dust, dirt, humidity and temperature variations.
  • Must be able to work outdoors as needed.
  • Must be able to work on facility roofs as necessary.
  • Must be able to work near moving electrical machine parts and near live electrical systems.
  • Must successfully pass vision screen for driving powered industrial trucks.
  • Must successfully pass vision screen for color perception.
  • Must participate in pre-shift stretching exercises.
  • Must be able to work 8-12 hour shifts and overtime as necessary up to 7 days, including the ability to give work instructions via telephone
  • Must be able to interpret schematics, prints and oral instructions, set up and programming of complex PLC, inverter and other electrical applications, interpret electrical and mechanical situations to determine process failure, process need and process improvement.
  • Must be able to use test equipment including, but not limited to DMMs, amp meters, Megger meters.
  • Must be able to design, install, repair, replace and maintain motors, drives, controls, starters, lights, power, communication, PLC, and other related systems.
  • Must be able to draw schematics and compile documentation for complex projects.
  • Must have knowledge of computers, PLC's, HMI, inverters, and other electronics.
  • Must be able to write and troubleshoot complex PLC programs.
  • Know the practices, methods, tools, materials and equipment of the electrician’s trade.
  • Know the hazards and safety precautions of all procedures.
  • Know how to diagnose and remedy maintenance problems.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with associates, supervisors, department managers, production managers, engineers, contractors, and plant managers.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to comply with all plant policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of NEC, safety controls, and PLC and HMI Programming preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee installation, repair and replacement of all electrical equipment.
  • Be knowledgeable in programming and troubleshooting of all electrical equipment including, but not limited to PLCs, inverters, single loop controllers throughout the plant.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Oversee all electrical projects in the plant.
  • Write HMI and PLC programs.
  • Order parts.
  • Supervise other technicians.
  • Provide training and guidance to technician-electrician I through technician-electrician IV positions.
  • Assist manufacturing on downtime if necessary.
  • Assist manufacturing with clean up if necessary.
  • Keep electrical panels neat and orderly.
  • Must attend shift first-day-back safety meetings.
  • Must meet all requirements to drive/operate company vehicle on company business.
  • Assist with other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
