Job summary: The Master Electrician serves as the highest-level technical expert for the electrical production team. Beyond performing the most advanced electrical installations, programming, and troubleshooting, this individual is responsible for system design validation, mentoring Level I-III Electricians, and collaborating directly with Engineering to refine electrical schematics and manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Proven Tenure: Minimum of 5–7 years of automotive or industrial electrical experience, with at least 2 years in a Senior or Level III capacity.
  • Advanced Skills: Deep mastery of 12V DC and 120/240/480V AC systems; proficiency in PLC programming or HMI configuration is a plus.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to translate technical engineering concepts into actionable floor instructions.
  • Physical Demands: (Maintain existing Level III requirements) Must be able to lift 40lbs, work in non-temperature-controlled environments, and perform work on ladders.

Nice To Haves

  • proficiency in PLC programming or HMI configuration is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Act as the final point of escalation for complex electrical failures and "first-time" prototype builds.
  • System Design & Optimization: Review and validate engineering drawings and schematics; provide feedback to the Engineering department to improve buildability and system reliability.
  • Training & Mentorship: Lead, guide, and certify the work of Level I-III Electricians. Develop training protocols for new electrical components and safety standards.
  • Advanced Diagnostics: Perform expert-level troubleshooting on 12V DC, 110V/240V AC, and potentially higher-voltage systems (up to 480V/600V if applicable) using oscilloscopes and advanced diagnostic software.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all electrical installations comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, and company-specific quality standards.
  • Prototype Support: Oversee the fabrication of "first-article" wiring harnesses and control modules for new truck models or custom configurations.
  • Project Management: Coordinate with production managers to plan labor and material needs for large-scale or high-priority electrical projects.
