About The Position
The Master Carpenter is responsible for executing scenery, helping to lead the build crew, mentoring our Technical Theater Apprentices, supervising the safe and clean management of the scene shop and stage, leading load in and strike, and helping to restore the Barns at the end of the season.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of theatrical construction.
- Demonstrated production experience.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Sensitivity and commitment to the mission of Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts
- Minimum 2 years of scene shop experience.
Responsibilities
- Construction and maintenance of all scenery in two opera productions at the Barns
- Provide production support for seasonal Opera productions
- Assist in the mentorship of all Technical Theater Apprentices
- Assist in management of the scene shop and Barns stage, including acting as the lead for load in and strike of each production, and restoring the Barns at the end of the season.
