About The Position

The Masker is responsible for applying protective coverings to specific areas of metal parts to prevent exposure during chemical conversion processes, such as Anodizing, Chem Film (Alodine), and Passivation. This role requires extreme precision, as improper masking can lead to part failure or costly rework.

Requirements

  • Precision: Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical drawings.
  • Detail Oriented: High focus on quality control and following strict SOPs.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive fine-motor tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a plating, aerospace, or medical device shop is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering blueprints and work orders to identify areas requiring protection.
  • Apply masking materials, including specialized tapes, liquid masks, plugs, and wax.
  • Clean and prep part surfaces using solvents to ensure proper mask adhesion.
  • Trim masking materials precisely using X-Acto knives or scalpels under magnification.
  • Remove masking materials post-process without damaging the treated or base surfaces.
  • Perform visual inspections to ensure masks are leak-proof and meet tight tolerances.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation to prevent foreign object debris (FOD).
