About The Position

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE , The McGovern Institute for Brain Research , to work in the laboratory of Professor Guoping Feng. Professor Feng is leading a collaborative effort to use marmosets as model animals for the study and treatment of complex brain disorders such as autism and schizophrenia. The Technical Associate will primarily be responsible for handling and care for animals; performing behavioral tests and research manipulations such as intramuscular and intravenous injections, blood draws, surgery and electrode implants; data collection and data analysis, preparing data for publications; assisting the daily care of animals and provide supplemental treatments to animals; coordinating schedules between researchers and veterinarian team; and assisting the external and internal collaboration, including meeting scheduling, preparation, and clean up.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in animal science, biology, neuroscience, or a related field
  • lab research experience with animal models
  • ability to be punctual
  • excellent organizational and communication skills
  • meticulous attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with nonhuman primates and/or large animals in a research setting
  • Occasionally requires working on weekends and evening.
