Job Overview The Specialist, Marketplace Item Experience supports the daily operations of item onboarding, catalog quality, and item workflows. This entry-level role focuses on execution, organization, and cross-functional coordination. The Specialist works closely with the Senior Manager and offshore item setup teams to ensure items are submitted correctly, meet Macy’s content standards, and move efficiently through the onboarding pipeline. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to learn marketplace operations, and excited to contribute to a fast-paced, emerging business.

Requirements

  • Marketplace & Digital Commerce Knowledge – Understanding of online marketplace platforms; passion for digital commerce; experience growing an online marketplace is a plus.
  • Analytical & Project Management Skills – Strong analytical thinking with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and track progress efficiently.
  • Attention to Detail & Accuracy – Ensures item submissions meet content standards and maintains high catalog quality.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Works effectively with offshore teams, internal stakeholders, and other departments to achieve business goals.
  • Communication Skills – Excellent written and verbal communication; able to convey technical information clearly to all levels of the organization.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset – Focused on providing a positive seller and buyer experience through accurate and efficient item onboarding.
  • Process Improvement & Problem Solving – Identifies recurring issues, suggests process updates, and contributes to operational enhancements.
  • Technical & Computer Skills – Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Mirakl or similar marketplace platforms is a plus.
  • Ownership & Initiative – Takes responsibility for product/project outcomes, drives execution, and supports the growth of an emerging business.
  • Confidentiality & Professionalism – Maintains security and confidentiality of sensitive company information.
  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel.
  • Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms.
  • Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Manager, Marketplace Item Experience in re-imagining, scaling, and optimizing the marketplace item workflow.
  • Assist an offshore team dedicated to item setup and support.
  • Monitor daily and weekly seller item submissions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Track item onboarding progress, flag potential delays, and support execution of seasonal assortment launches and prioritization lists.
  • Review seller submissions for common errors, prepare lists of items needing updates or follow-up, and identify recurring issues to inform process improvements or training enhancements.
  • Maintain logs, trackers, and documentation related to item setup progress and quality.
  • Monitor item onboarding KPIs to ensure efficient throughput and a positive seller experience.
  • Develop deep knowledge of Macy’s brand guidelines to ensure marketplace listings align with site merchandising standards.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
