About The Position

The Marketing & PR Manager leads the planning, execution, and evaluation of communications and marketing initiatives for the Community and Public Relations Department for the City of Fishers. This role is responsible for managing projects from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities, and maintaining high-quality, consistent messaging across all platforms. This role reports to the Assistant Director of Community & Public Relations. Working closely with department and organization leadership, this position serves as a strategic partner to internal teams, providing guidance, fostering collaboration, and building strong cross-departmental relationships to support citywide and departmental initiatives. The Manager also provides peer-level leadership, helping coordinate work across team members and ensuring projects are delivered on time and at a high standard. This role requires a highly organized, proactive professional who is both a strong communicator and a skilled project manager, capable of balancing strategy with execution in a fast-paced environment. This is an in-person position. Standard hours are 8:30 am 4:30 pm with occasional evenings and weekends required.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing required
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects, timelines, and workflows in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Strong copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Experience developing and executing multi-channel marketing and communications campaigns
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective cross-departmental relationships
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, email marketing tools, and content management systems
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically while executing tactically
  • Proactive communicator who anticipates challenges and develops solutions
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating across teams
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required to move throughout the city during shifts. Also must be able to be cleared to drive a city vehicle which includes at least 3 years of driving history
  • Must have the ability to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and holidays with advance notice

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with communications tools such as Delivra, Sprout Social, WordPress, Monday.com, or similar platforms preferred
  • Design experience creating print and digital materials with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with photo/video editing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development and execution of integrated communications and marketing campaigns across traditional and digital marketing tactics, including social media, email, web, and other platforms.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including timelines, workflows, and deliverables, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Lead content strategy and creation, including writing, editing, and proofreading high-quality materials for a variety of audiences and channels to ensure clarity, accuracy, brand consistency, and alignment of the organizational voice.
  • Support and guide media relations efforts, including drafting press releases, coordinating interviews, and managing responses to media inquiries.
  • Plan and execute high-profile events with City leadership and community partners, including groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, and press conferences.
  • Manage social media strategy and execution, including content planning, scheduling, and performance analysis.
  • Analyze campaign and content performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations to improve effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen collaboration, and enhance overall communications effectiveness.
