About The Position

Messmer High School is a 9-12 grade Catholic high school that serves students and families on the north side of Milwaukee. Messmer High School currently enrolls over 500 students. 80% of our students attend college. African American students comprise 85% of the student body and over 70% of students qualify for free/reduced meals. Regardless of student background and external factors, MHS maintains high expectations for students. POSITION DESCRIPTION We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and energetic Marketing Assistant Intern to join our communications team. This role is perfect for a student looking to gain hands-on experience across the full marketing spectrum, from high-quality print journalism and digital analytics to event planning and graphic design. You will play a key role in telling the Messmer story through our flagship publications and helping us maintain a clean, professional database to support our mission. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Content Creation & Editorial Support Messmer Today (Print Magazine): Assist in researching, interviewing, and drafting articles for our seasonal print publication. Messmer Connect (E-newsletter): Draft engaging copy for our monthly digital newsletter and track performance metrics (open rates, CTR) to help improve future engagement. Social Media: Support the broader social strategy. 2. Design & Digital Assets Utilize Canva to create visually appealing graphics for events. Ensure all designs align with Messmer’s brand guidelines and visual identity. 3. Data Management & Operations Data Cleanup: Assist with auditing and updating contact records in our database to ensure high deliverability and accurate donor tracking. Event Support: Provide logistical and promotional support for key fundraising events (e.g., auctions, galas, or community drives). Mentorship: Direct collaboration with the marketing and development leadership. QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Strong Writing Skills: Ability to adapt tone for different mediums (the storytelling of a magazine vs. the brevity of an email). Tech Savvy: Familiarity with Canva is preferred; familiarity with email marketing platforms (like Constant Contact) is a plus. Attention to Detail: A good eye for text consistency and a methodical approach to data entry/cleanup. Mission-Driven: A positive attitude and an interest in supporting faith-based education and community development.
