About The Position

Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG) is in search of a Marketing Data Analyst to support our Advertising & Marketing department. AWG’s marketing department is constantly evolving to meet consumers’ needs and demands. With that comes data to pivot to meet those. The goal is to integrate all the available datasets we have and be able to show proof of performance to retailers and consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies. This is an important role and center focal point to help our team be able to analyze consumer behavior and shift marketing strategy. This role will collaborate closely with leadership, the advertising and marketing team, ad groups, and merchandising teams. As our Retail Marketing Network continues to evolve, so will this role. The essential functions outlined are not exhaustive and may adapt or expand based on business needs. As we shift to an omnichannel-focused approach, leveraging data is critical to the success of our Retail Marketing Network. The Marketing Data Analyst will play a key role in a team responsible for executing promotions across on-site and off-site digital and in-store marketing tactics, aimed at driving shopper traffic, increasing product sales, and lifting basket size.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in marketing/advertising/communications/data analytics or related fields.
  • 3-5 years of data analytics experience.
  • Have experience in: Data visualization tools (e.g. Google Data Studio, PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Google Ads)
  • Coding languages (e.g. Python, RStudio)
  • Google Workspace applications (Gmail, Sheets, Drive)
  • Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerBI)
  • Ability to analyze and comprehend analytics, then adapt them into a strong storytelling experience to present to clients unfamiliar with analytics.
  • Comfortability working with data to fuel marketing media placement decisions.
  • Understand the consumer purchase funnel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent ability to think creatively and identify and resolve problems with minimal direction.
  • Desire to work in a collaborative, dynamic, flexible and team-oriented environment while managing one’s own time and responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret data, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and return on investment (ROI).
  • Assess and refine which data metrics are most valuable and determine reporting capabilities.
  • Utilize existing reporting tools while developing additional analytics as needed.
  • Support ongoing reports related to revenue share distribution to member retailers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, member retailers, and vendors to identify key consumer behavior data points.
  • Work cross-functionally with advertising, marketing, ad groups, and merchandising teams to enhance reporting metrics.
  • Lead reporting calls with CPGs and member retailers to demonstrate ROI.
