Under the direction and supervision of the Marketing and Public Relations Manager, the Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the timely completion of written content creation and social media management. This is a Marketing Department, part-time position with 25-30 hours per week expected. Position expected to work nights or weekends on occasion. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB Familiar with the scope of service provided by parks and recreation services organization. Ensures that marketing materials are targeted to the right consumer, with the right message at the right time. Individual should actively apply advertising, communication, marketing and public relations strategies and tactics to current efforts, adapt efforts and generate new efforts for the benefit of the Park District. Writes, edits, proofreads and disseminates public information for all Park District operations and recreational programs through various communications media (i.e. TV, radio, newspaper, other media) in a timely and effective manner. Organizes the media schedule and updates contact lists daily. Drafts and posts meaningful and effective blog content. Assists as needed in generating promotional narratives for collateral pieces including but not limited to: brochures, advertisements and public service announcements. Responsible for verifying that materials viewed by the public comply with the agency’s rules of branding, communication standards consistently, Including proofreading for manuals, policies, and other agency documents for accuracy and agency voice. Responsible for the management and organization of content on websites. Generates digital content for the website, social media and other platforms. Maintains web and social media calendars using Rectrac or other services. Generates monthly e-newsletters including coordinating content for GPD, FitNation and GO Gurnee and drafts and sends weekly Park Happenings for employees. Coordinates virtual backpack materials for local school districts. Manages District mobile Application(s) including content, alerts and other functions. Maintains and prepares marketing materials for expos, conferences, showcases, job fairs and attends when scheduled. Maintains file libraries for marketing files and all district photography following an established filing hierarchy set forth by the Director of Marketing and Community Relations. Creates simple flyers, infographics, social posts. Updates forms, flyer, programs, and handbooks as directed for all departments as requested/assigned. Completes large format print requests. Familiar with a variety of special printer projects and coordinates with external print requests such as signage. Manages merchandising schedule for all facilities-posters, flyers, community boards. Attends programs, special events and other Park District happenings as a back up to the multimedia designer. All other duties as assigned.
