About The Position

Purpose To promote the co-op, both in-store, online and in the community, as a healthy, attractive, vibrant community hub, and to ensure the co-op's compliance and effective participation in essential national promotions programs. Status Reports To: General Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week Essential Responsibilities and Functions Design & In-Store Promotions Work within DPFC brand standards to create all marketing support materials, including flyers, brochures, recipe cards, social media graphics, point of sale posters, advertisements, billboards, banners, signage, and other associated collateral. Coordinate production and delivery of materials as needed; engaging with appropriate vendors to solve problems and determine the best means of production for all graphic materials, with responsibility for timeliness and completeness of delivery. Ensure Department managers have access to consistently branded sign-making templates, and provide signage directly as needed accurately and in a timely manner. Keep staff informed of promotions and other upcoming promotional events. Facilitate monthly promo team meetings with department staff to coordinate in-store marketing activities. meetings with store managers to co-facilitate the creation of in-store marketing strategies. Update and maintain in-store monitors to display promotions and store calendar updates. Support GM in coordinating the participation of all departments with in-store events and merchandising Online Engagement & Asset Management Produce robust social media campaigns for platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). Create engaging visual and written content for multiple web platforms. Issue weekly promotional emails. Create recurring website updates and social media content to support promotions. Monitor social media reviews and comments and respond promptly to inquiries. Maintain a digital asset library of all marketing materials, including photography, ensuring all materials are up to date and appropriately catalogued. Photograph products, displays, vendors, staff and store interiors to support campaigns. Community Engagement and Public Relations Maintain and monitor channels of communication with members and shoppers, including surveys, online reviews, and social media interactions, and ensure prompt responses from appropriate staff. Utilize appropriate advertising within the budget to support organizational growth objectives. Seek out and respond to the media to obtain favorable coverage. Member Services Work with the Front End and Membership and Outreach Committee to achieve membership growth objectives with ongoing membership promotion and annual membership drive. Other Responsibilities Attend store leadership team meeting Missing key component: Create a yearly marketing and outreach plan (with goals, strategies, and objectives, a budget and a calendar of events) to engage and lead other members of the leadership team in the vibrant marketing of the organization. Perform other tasks assigned by General Manager

Requirements

  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop), Canva, and Google Suite is REQUIRED.
  • Expertise in social media content management and analytics for business.
  • A strong aesthetic sensibility and ability to discern what aligns with the DPFC brand.
  • A high degree of organization and attention to detail.
  • Significant experience with marketing strategies and processes.
  • Photography training or experience.
  • Willingness to take direction, work within budgets, and follow brand standards.
  • Knowledge of the Detroit community.
  • Well-developed communication - written and verbal.
  • Strong presentation experience and coalition building skills.
  • Ability to create and implement plans from the first creative idea through to measuring results.
  • Demonstrated writing, editing, and graphic design skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively with teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks appropriately and meet deadlines in a fast-paced busy work environment.
  • Passion for food and grocery, good design and cooperative business.
  • Ability to use computer keyboard, monitor, mouse, telephone, and various office equipment continuously.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to be present and working in an assigned area for up to 3 hours without rest.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb stairs or ladder.
