About The Position

Coordinates and develops sales for a college or division program. 1. Acts as liaison for a program with potential clients; makes contact by telephone, mail and in person to promote the program. 2. Develops proposals and appropriate budgets for sales contracts. 3. Develops policies and procedures, and promotional materials, for sales operations. 4. Represents the college or division at professional conferences, trade shows, meetings, etc. 5. Travels in the U.S. and abroad, as necessary, to negotiate contracts and conduct demonstrations. 6. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Key Responsibilities Marketing & Publicity Support Assist with the development and execution of marketing and publicity campaigns for new releases and seasonal titles. Draft press releases, media advisories, and promotional copy. Maintain and update media lists, author databases, and marketing archives. Coordinate award submissions, advertising placements, and catalog mailings. Digital Marketing & Communications Support website updates, social media scheduling, and email marketing campaigns. Monitor analytics and track engagement to provide reports on campaign performance. Create graphics, flyers, and other promotional materials using tools such as Canva or InDesign. Community & Author Engagement Assist with planning and coordinating book launches, author appearances, and community events. Liaise with authors to provide marketing materials and event support. Collaborate with schools, libraries, and cultural institutions on outreach initiatives. Sales & Market Development Support Prepare marketing collateral and metadata for distributors, booksellers, and libraries. Assist with e-commerce promotions, online events, and special campaigns. Track book award deadlines, trade advertising opportunities, and conference calendars. Administrative & Team Support Maintain marketing calendars, project timelines, and internal reports. Provide clerical and logistical support for departmental operations, including budget tracking and vendor coordination. Represent Arte Público Press at local and regional book fairs, conferences, and cultural events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Publishing, English, or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in marketing, publicity, or communications (internships and student work acceptable).
  • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, email marketing tools, and website CMS.
  • Demonstrated interest in publishing, literature, or the arts.
  • Commitment to multicultural literature and engagement with Latino communities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop) preferred.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
