About The Position

Renaissance West Community Initiative's mission is to promote a collaborative community centered on quality housing, education, health and wellness, and opportunity. Its vision is to end intergenerational poverty through a holistic community revitalization effort. Located in west Charlotte, RWCI leads a comprehensive revitalization strategy on the former site of the Boulevard Homes housing community. Today, the Renaissance campus includes 334 mixed-income housing units, a high-quality child development center, and a CMS pre-K–8 school. Through coordinated programs, partnerships, and support services, RWCI works to ensure that children, families, and seniors have access to the resources they need to grow, succeed, and build long-term stability. Lead and execute marketing and communications efforts to strengthen brand visibility, community engagement, and organizational storytelling. Provide direct support to the Development Officer in donor communications and fundraising initiatives. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position requiring four days on-site and one remote workday per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, nonprofit management, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in marketing, communications, design, or nonprofit development.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with social media management and email marketing tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Passion for RWCI's mission and commitment to equity, community empowerment, and social impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CRM or donor management systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop visually compelling materials including flyers, brochures, social media graphics, presentations, and event collateral.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all internal and external communications.
  • Support the creation of multimedia content (photos, videos, infographics) that highlights RWCI programs and impact.
  • Draft and edit content for newsletters, website updates, press releases, and social media.
  • Manage RWCI's social media presence, including content planning, posting, and engagement tracking.
  • Capture resident stories, program highlights, and organizational milestones to support marketing and fundraising efforts.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the RWCI website.
  • Support donor stewardship through thank-you letters, impact reports, and campaign communications.
  • Assist with planning and executing fundraising events, including logistics, promotion, and onsite support.
  • Track marketing and fundraising metrics to inform strategy and reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, community partners, and vendors to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Support general administrative tasks related to communications and development.
