About The Position

Performs written communications and graphic work assisting the Director of Marketing and Public Information in a wide variety of professional tasks. Provides assistance to on-campus personnel as well as off-campus visitors and media.

Requirements

  • Experience of more than 2-3 years in a related field.
  • Possesses excellent editing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to write professional accurate copy for various purposes, such as internal and external communication, and marketing materials
  • Ability to express ideas in a clear and structured manner through excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to understand and meet assigned deadlines
  • Ability to utilize a personal computer and software including as Microsoft Office programs, as well as other administrative tools.
  • Should possess the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information
  • Excellent judgment and personal maturity
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of how to work in a time-sensitive workspace and ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy office
  • Must be able to solve complex problems and to work independently with little supervision
  • Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community

  • Personal cell phone usage may be required to complete position duties, including multi-function authentication requirements

Responsibilities

  • Answers and directs phone calls and responds to emails
  • Serves as a first point of contact in the office by welcoming visitors
  • Assists with bookkeeping, expense tracking, and preparing various forms, records, and other administrative paperwork
  • Develops and organizes filing system
  • Maintains the university's website calendar of events
  • Writes, edits, and distributes weekly/biweekly internal newsletter
  • Produces monthly and quarterly calendar of events for community distribution
  • Copyedits news releases and marketing materials
  • Attends training, seminars, and other meetings, as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
