About The Position

Waséyabek, a 100% Tribally-owned holding company that manages the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi’s (NHBP) non-gaming economic development activities, is seeking a paid Marketing and Communications intern. The ideal candidate will possess experience in a wide variety of areas – including writing, editing, social media, project management, and more – along with a drive to consistently generate high-quality results. Working closely with our team, you’ll write and edit content for our publications, post to our social media platforms, provide project management assistance with our third-party vendors, and collaborate on special tasks with departments from across the organization. This internship offers the opportunity to connect with our unique audience while refining your skills, bringing your ideas to life, and contributing to meaningful projects that not only impact the organization, but the entire Waséyabek family of companies. You’ll gain practical marketing and communications experience in a professional setting while partnering on key projects that align with our vision, mission, and values. Duration: 3 Months, Summer 2026 (20 Hours/Week) This is an in-person position with flexible hours between 8 a.m-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. About Our Internship Program The program is designed to provide meaningful, real-world experience while fostering collaboration and connection. Opportunities to help students grow professionally while developing a deeper understanding of the mission and cultural foundation that guide our work include: • Working alongside peers across multiple departments. • Networking with professionals throughout the corporate office and portfolio of companies. • Participate in site visits that offer insight into our diverse business operations. • Learn about NHBP history, traditions, and values.

Requirements

  • Current student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field. Sophomore standing or higher is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong writer with the ability to deliver effective messaging through storytelling.
  • Strict attention to detail, especially concerning the written word.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of the Adobe software suite (Creative Cloud), including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, and Acrobat.
  • Experience with photography, videography, and website design (WordPress and Elementor/Divi).
  • A deep commitment to understanding others and a drive to consistently deliver high-quality results.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit content for a variety of platforms, including the Waséyabek Intranet, NHBP’s Turtle Press, and more.
  • Audit Waséyabek suite of websites for content, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and clarity.
  • Develop content for distribution on Waséyabek’s social media channels.
  • Offer suggestions for enhancement on Waséyabek’s social media strategy.
  • Provide project management support for Waséyabek’s third-party vendors (public relations, video, and graphic design).
  • Develop innovative strategic marketing and communications approaches for immediate or potential adoption by Waséyabek or its family of companies.
  • Other marketing and communications duties, as assigned.
