About The Position

About Electrified Thermal Solutions Boilers, furnaces, and kilns are the engines of our industrial economy, providing heat to melt steel, form cement, and transform chemicals. But historically reaching this high-temperature heat required burning fossil fuels, making the industrial sector responsible for 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Electrified Thermal Solutions has a simple and massive goal: to electrify industry. To do this, we are building the Joule Hive™ thermal battery: an energy storage technology that converts and stores cheap, renewable electricity as high-temperature heat. Our vision is to mitigate gigatons of CO2 emissions per year by deploying the Joule Hive™ at every industrial furnace, turbine, boiler, and kiln. About the Role: As a Market Research and Financial and Energy Modeling Intern, you will join our business development team and play a pivotal role in developing our Go-to-Market strategies and commercial offering to enable the widespread deployment of our Joule Hive thermal batteries to electrify and decarbonize industrial heat globally. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in creating a commercial strategy and value proposition for a renewable energy technology applied to global industry. You will work directly with Electrified Thermal’s leadership to shape the future of renewable energy technology. You will report to the Vice President of Business Development.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a B.S./M.S. in a math, science, economic or policy discipline.
  • Proficiency in financial and economic modeling in Excel.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with renewable energy systems or thermal energy storage is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Research energy policy, market rules, interconnection procedures, electricity grid rates, etc. to inform accurate modeling of customer project economics and Go to Market Strategy.
  • Research public funding incentive/grant opportunities for which the Joule Hive thermal battery could qualify and incorporate results in customer project modeling and Go to Market Strategy.
  • Create database of top customer prospects based on Go to Market intelligence and modeling.
  • Use third-party online modeling tool to run project models for customers showing the Return on Investment of deploying the Joule Hive thermal battery.
  • Run and adapt an existing Python model for customers showing the Return on Investment of deploying the Joule Hive thermal battery in their context.
  • Create new models to evaluate potential new markets to support Go to Market strategy.
