Position Summary... The Sam’s Club People Team is seeking a Market People Partner (MPP) to support Market 1, covering Northern California, Reno, and Hawaii. This role is a key people leader responsible for driving workforce strategy, talent outcomes, and associate experience. Based in Northern California, you’ll be centrally positioned to partner closely with market and club leaders, using data, influence, and strong relationships to deliver impactful people solutions that support both associates and business performance. This role directly supports Market 1 (Northern CA / Reno / Hawaii) and plays a critical role in shaping culture, strengthening leadership capability, and ensuring people strategies align with operational priorities across the market.What you’ll do: Serve as the primary People Partner for Market 1, supporting clubs across Northern California, Reno, and Hawaii through strong relationships and consistent in‑market presence. Lead workforce management strategies—including staffing, scheduling, and retention—by analyzing data and driving consistent execution of people initiatives across a complex, multi‑state market. Advise and coach leaders on company policies, people practices, and compliance with state and federal employment regulations, navigating varying regulatory environments with consistency and sound judgment. Own market‑level talent strategies, including recruiting, performance management, talent reviews, and succession planning, while acting as a trusted advisor to remove barriers and support business priorities. What you’ll bring: Experience leading HR or People initiatives for a multi‑site or geographically dispersed workforce, ideally in complex or highly regulated environments. Strong ability to influence leaders, build trust, and partner effectively across levels and functions. Data‑driven mindset with experience using workforce and talent insights to guide decisions and actions. Knowledge of talent acquisition, workforce planning, performance management, and succession planning, with the ability to balance consistency and local nuance. Requirements

  • Experience leading HR or People initiatives for a multi‑site or geographically dispersed workforce, ideally in complex or highly regulated environments.
  • Strong ability to influence leaders, build trust, and partner effectively across levels and functions.
  • Data‑driven mindset with experience using workforce and talent insights to guide decisions and actions.
  • Knowledge of talent acquisition, workforce planning, performance management, and succession planning, with the ability to balance consistency and local nuance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an HR related field (e.g., Industrial Relations) and 2 years of combined managerial experience supervising salaried Associates; OR 4 years of combined managerial experience supervising salaried Associates, including at least 2 years experience with HR management responsibilities (e.g., staffing, performance management, coaching and mentoring, training, compensation, promotion)
