About The Position

The Market Manager is responsible for properly ordering and receiving shipment that is delivered to their location, per the Lassens Receiving Procedure, ensuring inventory within their department is accurate. The Market Manager supervises and coordinates activities of Team Members in Lassens Market Department, which consists of grocery and perishables items. The Market Manager is responsible for additional tasks such as stocking, facing, inventory maintenance, providing exceptional customer service, processing special orders, and maintaining the overall appearance and integrity of the Market Department. The Market Manager creates and maintains department displays, ensures all pricing is accurate by placing the correct shelf tags and sale signs throughout the department, and shares their knowledge of Lassens monthly AD’s and sales in the Market Department with customers. The Market Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of Team Members in Lassens Market Department and providing a high level of outstanding customer service by giving prompt, friendly and knowledgeable service to all Guests. A Market Manager may be expected to obtain extensive knowledge of Natural Foods and some basic knowledge of Nutritional Supplements including vitamins, herbs, amino acids, sports nutrition, food supplements, and health and beauty aids.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns duties to Team Members and schedules break periods in accordance with State Labor Laws. Assists in scheduling work hours and approving time off requests.
  • Trains Team Members on store policies, department procedures, and job duties.
  • Places orders with a variety of vendors and take care of all related follow through including, but not limited to, returns for credit, special orders, and pricing adjustments
  • Contribute to the maintenance of minimum margin expectations of 40% for the Grocery Department and 32% for the Perishable Department.
  • Orders merchandise, supplies, and equipment for the Market Department.
  • Ensures that merchandise and supplies delivered are accurate to order and in saleable condition. Reports discrepancies to suppliers in order to control costs, maintain Department margin, and correct inventory levels.
  • Inspects merchandise on the sales floor to ensure it is correctly priced, displayed, and within the expiration or sell by date.
  • Follows and enforces “Lassen's Market Stocking & Facing Policy”.
  • Hangs correct shelf labels and sale signs in front of correct products using UPC# and date range as exclusive criteria.
  • Responsible for scheduling, conducting, and working with the Scan Coordinator and Store Manager to ensure that all inventory maintenance tasks are completed within the Market Department.
  • Works with Lassen's Regional Grocery/Perishable Buyer and Store Manager to determine additions to or deletions of inventory, based on information obtained through careful, and frequent evaluation of Lassen's Chain-wide Sales Reports, Store Sales reports, and current market trends.
  • Listens to customer complaints, examines returned merchandise, and resolves problems to restore and promote good public relations.
  • Follows and enforces “Lassen's Special Order Policy & Procedures” and strictly maintains a working “Special Order Book.”
  • Assists team in research and acquisition of any item/items requested by customers in a timely manner.
  • Sells merchandise and assists Team Members in completing difficult sales.
  • Plans, follows through with, and maintains departments merchandise and promotional displays.
  • All other duties assigned by management.
