About the Role: Caterpillar Oil & Gas currently has an exciting opportunity for a Market Development Consultant – Strategy Manager in Houston, Texas. This role is primarily responsible for defining and executing the strategy for long-term sales growth for new power generation products and services for the Production Power Generation segment of Oil & Gas. In this role you will be an integral part of the product strategy team that ensures that customer requirements are clearly defined, and you will work collaboratively with the commercial and product engineering teams to ensure that new products deliver the intended customer value and meet the business unit’s strategic and financial objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy development and execution for the Production Power market segment, including multi-year product development plans for natural gas gensets, power distribution controls, and electrification solutions.
  • Identify market opportunities and build business cases for new power generation and electrification solutions and launch New Product Introduction (NPI) programs to bring those new solutions to market.
  • Interpret current and future capabilities of competitors across the segment and ensure Caterpillar maintains a market-leading portfolio of Production Power generation products.
  • Define customer requirements, product positioning strategies, pricing, and forecasts for NPI programs.
  • Participate in regular meetings with customers, dealers, and commercial teams to gather market intelligence.
  • Gather voice of customer to understand customer buying behaviors, competitive issues, market service needs, and where Caterpillar can add value.
  • Act as a market segment advisor to commercial teams, dealers, and other process partners.
  • Provide strategic guidance for marketing priorities and work with the Marketing Communications team to create product messaging and media for new product launches and marketing campaigns.
  • Develop technical marketing data, competitive analyses, and sales training materials needed to effectively sell new products.
  • Travel regularly to visit customers to understand current and future customer needs.
